Should I pay $70 to have my Fuel system cleaned?

I see that they sell those fuel additives at auto part stores that you put in your empty gas tanks for like a few bucks. Is it really necessary to pay almost $70 to have a mechanic or major repair shop do it professionally? I was just wondering what the difference was.
