Is it normal for my 2 story stucco home to sway when there is high wind?
I have a 1989 built, 2 story, typical wood frame and stucco home, and during high wind, the 2nd story bedroom (which is built above the garage), sways. Also, I can hear some of the wood beams behind the drywall creaking. I have an automatic garage door that takes the brunt of the winds direction, and my theory is that it is like a sail and pulls on the wood beams it is attached to and causes the home to sway. In any event, is this normal, and is it something I should be concerned about? IE, are my wood beams going to crack or come apart, especially where they are bolted to the foundation?
