How do I cut granite bench top?

The business that installed our granite counter tops used a diamond blade - this is commercially of course. A friend of mine bought a "kit" at Home Depot or Lowes (i think that was where) that is supposedely able to cut granite slabs. The cost was around $200.00. The store ociates should be able to point you to this.
